Nailinda
Welcome to Nailinda! We are mainly a location based health information system, we also offer a medical software for hospitals where they can receive notifications of incoming emergencies.
Nailinda was first though of in 2019 January, 35 days after a colleague passed away from Sickle Cell Anemia. He went to a hospital that was very far from where he was living, passing other medical centers that would have been able to help him if he had known about their existence. This hit us so hard as a team and we said no one should die because they do not know where a hospital is, or because the hospital was not prepared for them. Internet still being a problem in most parts of the country, Nailinda is built to support both internet enabled phones and phones that cannot access the internet through USSD. USSD does not need internet just a stable cell reception.
Nailinda is a free software, we do not charge either users/ patients or hospitals to use it. We believe that everyone should be able to be able to have timely medical assistance and being that this has been Developed with the people living in the 3rd world in mind, we do know how hard it is to not be able to access timely due to poverty. The developers working on the software have dedicated their time to build this software for free.
How does Nailinda work?
For Patients
A user can choose to become a patient by registering on our platform through the internet or through his phone via USSD. One can search for hospitals near them without having to register on the platform. When you register as a patient on Nailinda, anytime you walk into a medical center that uses Nailinda, the doctors will have access to your medical records/ history only with your permission. How do we ensure this? A doctor must have an access code to access your account, we send that code to you.
When a user searches for a hospital, we ask them for their location. We then scan through ourr database to get all hospitals around the location that the user has given us. We then send a response to the user through the USSD session and follow up with a text of the hospitals that are around the user.

A user can also search hospitals and send a notification to the hospitals. This means that after getting the list, they have an option of sending a notification to the hospital. This notification will entail their emergency, name and their current location. This notification is meant to prepare the hospital of the incoming emergency. A hospital will either accept or deny the emergency, whichever option they take, a user gets notified of the hospital's response
For Hospitals
Hospitals need to be registered to be able to use or be found when a user searches our database. Registration of
hospitals is free. The hospitals, when using Nailinda, can be able to create accounts for their staff. Different staff
will have different permissions and ability to access, change and even delete information.
When using Nailinda, Hospitals are able to receive emergency notifications and should accept or deny. The notification
contains the users number and emergency they are having. When they accept the emergency, this means that they are
preparing and can handle the emergency. When they reject the emergency, they have to write a reason as to why they
cannot handle the emergency. Whatever response a hospital gives, a user will be notified so that they make an informed
decision
